An alluring finish, which is moreish and smooth, yet has great length. Conquest McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016 Deep red/black with purple hues. Fresh blackberry aromas are entwined with hints of plum, espresso, spice and dark chocolate. Full- bodied, with a luscious dark berry mid-palate seamlessly structured with fine but firm tannins, rich oak and a balanced acidity that ensures a long, lingering finish. Southern Lights Marlborough Syrah 2016 This cool climate example of the varietal is all bodied and displays vibrant purple red hues. It is well stricter, showing great fruit depth balanced with a structured influence of oak and presenting fine integrated tannins. The Colonial Estate Exile Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018 Deep Rich and expressive bouquet with black fruits, dark chocolate and mulberries, plum and black olive. Full bodied and highly concentrated fruit with a really plush texture. The flavour concentration is powerful and yet matches with its impeccable balance and elegance. The fruit flavours of plum and black fruits, all work within the framework, which is fleshy and opulent with a chocolate character shining on the mid palate. There is a lovely spicy note along with subtle hint of oak, but this does not dominate given the powerful fruit flavour. The tannins are velvety smooth which when allowed to open up and breathe illustrate the longevity possible with a long dark seductive finish which is in a word mouthwatering. Carrot Block Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018 By Ivan Limb Deep rich crimson in colour. Lovely rich bouquet of chocolate, plums and blackberry. The palate is highlighted by intense flavours of black forest fruits, plums and mulberries. Aged in oak the flavour has infiltrated the wine without overpowering it. It is a full-bodied with soft velvety tannins and a long finish. Rovalley Ridge Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017 Dark ruby in colour with purple hues. Berry, plum and blackberry fruits with spice enhanced by American and French oak on the nose. There are fruit flavours reminiscent of dark chocolate, pepper and blackcurrant which combine with the sophisticated fine and savoury tannins. This is a classic example of a full bodied Barossa Shiraz. The Derek Victorian Shiraz 2020 Deep purple to black colour. Intense and vibrant aroma of dark fruit and spice, beautifully varietal with ripe plum and blackberry with well integrated oak and chocolate hints coming through. The palate is fruit driven with dark fruit being the overwhelming hero here while oak and smooth tannins all working in unison. The complexity is derived from some spicy character whilst the finish is backed by a great acid back bone and the tannin structure will ensure the wine continues to drink well over the medium term.
